Tucked away in a nook on South Hutchinson Island, Santa Lucea Beach is a mid-size public beach with a private feel. After walking up the boardwalk surrounded by lush sea grape plants and palmetto palms, one will find several miles of sandy beach in which to find their happy place.
Take a left from the boardwalk and you will find a perfect spot for a family outing, a picnic with friends or a relaxing afternoon spent reading a book.
Turn to the right and walk a little further down, you will find rock formations that have created a small lagoons ideal for sunbathing in natures hot tub. Schools of fish tend to crowd around the rocks and reefs in this area also making this spot a fisherman's dream.
Some things to keep in mind:
- There is no life guard station.
- There is no concession stand or food vendor here.
- This beach is within a mile of a Publix and a gas station in case you forget your sunscreen, bag of ice or floating raft.
- There are showers before stepping on to the boardwalk but no restrooms.
